CSIRP Board Meeting Tuesday April 30, 2001 at 8 PM EDT Barry Rueger (Wise, Virginia) Victoria Fenner (Wise, Virginia) Douglas Samuel (Ottawa, Ontario) Heather Majaury (Windsor, Ontario) Chris Brooks (St Johns, Newfoundland) Regrets: Andy Posthumus (Hamilton, Ontario); Dave Kattenburg (Brandon, Manitoba) AGENDA 1) Approval of Agenda 2) Approval of Previous Minutes - approved. 3) Treasurer's Report and Financial Statement - Things are in transition from Hamilton to Ottawa. Douglas will investigate Simply Accounting software. 4) Banking Resolution - the Board approves a move from Avestel Credit Union to the Bank of Montreal and approves the relevant Banking Resolution. 5) Membership Report - The membership database has been sent to Hal. Hal's list is now the Official List and all other lists default to his. Upcoming projects will continue the practice of including CSIRP memberships with workshop registrations. 6) Newsletter Report - We hope to do a reprint of the last issue to be distributed to NCRC. A final decision will be made in the next few weeks. Paying writers for Wavelength: we will dialog in upcoming months. 7) Current Projects a) Full Moon Over Killaloe - Is almost sold out, and planning is going very well. Initial planning is happening for Full Moon Over Kentucky to accommodate American interest. b) Sound Unbound audio art symposium - will take place June 11th, Ottawa. Concurrently with NCRC. Planning is proceeding quickly, We're looking at eight artists plus others to discuss audience and sound art. c) Creative Radio Initiative: Funding is approved, and Victoria is now fleshing out the workshop schedule. Confirmed is "Sound Unbound" in Ottawa and "Deep Wireless" in Toronto. This is a three year project which aims to train community radio broadcasters in audio art, radio drama, documentary production, and other creative forms. 7) Project Reporting - consensus that the important part is that projects report regularly and accurately to the Board as they develop. In the interim Victoria will continue to circulate information by email, and assume that any concerns will be raised. (Retreat Item) 8) Future Projects a) Career Initiatives in Culture - we have applied for grant to do training in radio business skills. This compliments the Trillium workshops. We should hear back in a couple of weeks. 9) Equipment - We have reached the point where it may be more cost effective to buy equipment instead of renting, esp. computers. Even if a used PC is lost or damaged it costs no more than renting. Two cheap portables could do the job. Last year at FMOK they spent about $900 on computer rentals. This year's project budgets for rentals is about $1000 for FMOK plus $1600 a year for other projects. We will collectively do research and report back. This is a good idea. (Retreat Item) 10) Honorariums - All Board members spend nickel and dime amounts on postage and phone calls. Hal proposes a $50.00 honorarium, contingent on being present for a minimum of four Board Meetings. It's approved. 11) Travel Money and Other expenses - Proposal that Board members may apply to have their travel expenses reimbursed. We should plan each year for a face to face meeting of the Board. CSIRP will pay for Barry to come to Ottawa. 11) Board Retreat - Saturday June 16th, John Muir's cottage, Wakefield, Quebec. The Board approves an honorarium for John. John will also be asked to chair. 12) Next Meeting a) CSIRP Board retreat Monday June 4th - short one before Ottawa, at 8 PM. b) Chair - Chair 11) Motion to Adjourn - 8:52 PM =================================== Barry Rueger & Victoria Fenner Bagatelle Communications & Management Canada: 155 Scarlet Road, South River, Ontario P0A 1X0 U.S.: PO Box 366, Whitesburg, Kentucky 41858 Phone: 540-328-9624 Fax: 540-328-9625 http://www.community-media.com Click to add my contact info to your organizer: http://my.infotriever.com/rueger http://www.csirp.org ==^================================================================ EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?b1djdN.b1Fg1D Or send an email To: csirp-board-unsubscribe@topica.com This email was sent to: hdoran@synapse.net T O P I C A -- Learn More.
